Privacy policy: Plain Checkbook: Register
Last updated: 25 October 2026
This policy covers the iPhone app Plain Checkbook: Register ("the app", shown on the home screen as Plain Checkbook), published by Datadelight ("we"). Questions: privacy@accounts.datadelight.co.
What the app does
The app is a check register: accounts, entries with their running balance, recurring entries, and reconciling against a bank statement. It can import a CSV or QIF file you choose and export an account as CSV or QIF.
What the app collects
Nothing. We do not collect any data from the app, and we cannot see your register or how you use the app.
- No network connection: the app has no code that connects to the internet or to any other device, and no server of ours receives anything from it.
- No analytics, advertising or tracking: the app contains no analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting code, and no code from third parties.
- No account: the app has no sign-in. The details it asks for are the ones you put in your register: account names, opening balances, and each entry's payee, amount, date, check number, category and memo.
- No purchases inside the app: the app has no in-app purchases or subscriptions.
- No device permissions: the app does not ask for access to your location, camera, photos, contacts, microphone or any other permission.
What the app keeps on your iPhone
Your register (accounts, entries, recurring entries and reconciliations) is one file in the app's own storage on your iPhone. The app does not send it anywhere.
The app also saves backup copies of the register on your iPhone, in its Backups folder, which the Files app shows under On My iPhone › Plain Checkbook › Backups:
- a dated copy each day you make a change;
- a copy before the register's file format is updated, before a restore and before an account is deleted.
The app keeps the newest 30 daily copies and the newest 30 of the others, and deletes older ones. You can open these files in the Files app and copy them off your iPhone yourself.
Files you choose
- Import and restore: the app reads only a file you pick in the file picker.
- Export: the app writes the account's CSV or QIF file in its temporary folder on your iPhone and opens the share sheet; the file goes only where you send it.
Personal data
The app collects no personal data, and we hold none about its users.
Your choices and rights
Because we receive no data from the app, there is nothing for us to give you, correct or delete. Send questions about the app or this policy to privacy@accounts.datadelight.co.
Changes
We will post any change to this policy at this address with a new date.
