Privacy policy: Group Mentions for Confluence
Last updated: 28 October 2026
This policy covers the Confluence Cloud app Group Mentions for Confluence ("the app"), published by Datadelight ("we"). Questions: privacy@accounts.datadelight.co.
What the app does
The app runs on Atlassian Forge. It has three parts: a group mention you insert in a page or blog post, which mentions the members of a user group in a comment, and Confluence decides how each is notified; group subscriptions, which let a space admin make the members of a group watch a page or a space; and a list of the pages you watch, from which you can unwatch many at once.
What the app reads
- Group mentions. When a page or blog post is created or updated, the app reads its content as the person who saved it, to find the group mentions in it. For each group mention not yet delivered, it reads the group's members: their Atlassian account IDs, display names and account types. When you choose a group in the mention's dialog, it searches group names and reads the group's member count.
- Group subscriptions. It reads whether you are an admin of the space, the title of the page you subscribe a group to, the group's members (account IDs, display names and account types), and whether each member watches the page or space.
- My watched pages. It reads, as you, the list of pages and blog posts you watch: for each, its ID, type, title, the space's name and its link. This list is read each time you open the screen and is not stored.
What the app changes
- Group mentions. It adds footer comments to the page or blog post that mention each member of the group, at most 50 names a comment. They are written on behalf of the person who saved the page. Confluence shows each comment as coming from the app, with the name of that person beside it, and the comment mentions each member by name. Confluence decides whether and how each member is notified, according to their own settings. The comment appears usually within seconds to a few minutes after the save. Whoever saved the page is not counted among the members named.
- Group subscriptions. As the space admin who subscribed the group, it adds a watch on the page or space for each member who was not already watching. Every hour it adds watches for people who joined the group and removes the watches it added from people who left. It removes them all when the subscription is removed. It never removes a watch a member made themselves.
- My watched pages. When you choose Unwatch selected, it removes your own watch from the pages you selected. It never changes anyone else's watches.
What the app stores
The app keeps these records in its Forge storage:
- for each group mention: the page or blog post ID, the mention's ID, the group's ID and name, whether it was sent, the account IDs of the people already mentioned, the number of members and comments, the time, and the HTTP status Confluence returned if it stopped;
- for each group subscription: the space's key and ID, the page's ID and title or the space, the group's ID and name, the account ID of the admin who subscribed it, the time, its status, and for each member's account ID whether the app added their watch, they already watched, or they unwatched.
The app does not delete a group mention's record. A subscription's records are deleted when the subscription is removed.
What the app sends elsewhere
The app uses Atlassian Forge and your Confluence site. Its assessed manifest declares no external integrations or analytics services; the app code makes no calls to an external analytics service.
These app-level observations do not establish the platform’s contractual role or an authorised subprocessor list. Platform legal entities, contractual chain, processing locations, transfers and retention remain to be verified before completing an agreement, as described in processing annex C.
Logs
The app writes troubleshooting lines to Atlassian's Forge app logs:
- for each group mention delivered: the page or blog post ID, the mention's ID, the outcome, and how many members were mentioned out of how many;
- for each subscription sync: the subscription's ID and how many members watch, or the HTTP status if it stopped;
- when a request fails unexpectedly: which action failed and the HTTP status Confluence returned.
The log lines carry no page text, group names, people's names or account IDs.
Atlassian holds these logs. We can see them in the Atlassian developer console for 30 days. A site administrator can turn off our access to them in Atlassian Administration (Apps › Connected apps › this app › Logs access).
Personal data
The personal data the app stores is Atlassian account IDs: of people mentioned through a group mention, of members of subscribed groups, and of the admin who made each subscription. It stores group names, which your organisation chooses. It reads display names to write the mentions but does not store them.
Your choices and rights
Your Confluence site administrator controls the data in your Confluence site. Any member can unwatch a page their group is subscribed to, and the app will not watch it for them again. Send questions or requests about the app's records to privacy@accounts.datadelight.co.
Changes
